The road was
the education.

Levi Harrell spent his formative years on the road — not as a tourist, but as a student of the world. Across more than 34 countries and a decade of living out of a van or a backpack, he embedded himself in cultures, communities, and landscapes most people only encounter in photographs. The education wasn’t in a classroom. It was earned one border crossing, one conversation, one human moment at a time.

What the road gives you, eventually, is people. You learn how grief sounds in a language you don’t speak, what dignity looks like stripped of comfort, how joy surfaces in the most unexpected places. That’s not something you can study. It’s a PhD in human emotion — and it shows up in every frame.

That understanding is the foundation of everything he creates. As Art Director at Kinsmen Journal, he shaped stories that felt personal and true. As Content Director at BulkLoads, he gave craft to an industry that had never told its own story. The through-line: knowing not just how to tell a story, but which stories are worth telling — and why they matter.
