Description
Every so often you get the opportunity to photograph something extraordinary and this was my chance. The Bonneville Salt Flats outside of Salt Lake City, Utah had just been pounded with rain for hours. Even though I was 5 hours away in the Sawtooth Mountains of Idaho, I knew I had to make the journey south to document the perfect reflections that the salt flats can provide after heavy rain. I drove through intense storms all night to arrive the next morning to perfect glassy reflections and blue skies. I couldn’t have dreamed of better conditions for these photos! I drove my 4×4 truck to the far edge of the salt flats and started my composition process. Eventually, I decided that the image needed a person for scale reference. Being alone meant I needed to set the shutter timer and take off running into the frame. After four of five attempts, I was able to capture this image.
